My husband and I got back this week from a four-day tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway on his BMW motorcycle. The grandparents came in to hold down the fort and off we went. It’s the first getaway we’ve had in over seven years, so we were pretty excited.
Our first lunch stop was in a little Virginian town called Floyd. They’re famous for their yearly Bluegrass festival and we happened to be there during the event. On the way out of town, we saw where the festival was being held. RVs and cars galore and tons of people, plus booths and tents. Very much like a busy county Fair.
The next two days were full of amazing vistas along the Parkway. There are a lot of parks off of the Blue Ridge, plus plenty of overlooks. I especially enjoyed the beautiful farms that are all throughout Virginia and North Carolina.
One of the highlights of the last day was stopping in Boone, NC and eating at the Coyote Kitchen. Fabulous food! My husband said that no travel blog was complete without a picture of food, so here I am in all my no-makeup, helmet-head, happy-trip glory. 😉
Our motorcycle tour was a great way to end the summer. We arrived home tired, happy and already planning next year’s adventure.
What’s the best vacation you ever took?
